New Year, Same Plastic Polluter
Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Nestle were named the top plastic polluters for the third year in a row according to Break Free From Plastic's report.
Break Free From Plastic has conducted an annual brand audit across the globe where citizens collect, count, and document the brands on plastic waste found in their communities and environment. So far they have colelcted 346,494 pieces of plastic from 55 countries. The results from this year show that the top single use plastic polluters have been falsly claiming to reduce their plastic production through greenwashing. These brands need to make real steps to waste reduction by reducing, reinventing, and using a reuse system.

This month, we feature The Austin Dish Lending Library, a local sustainability organization working to keep Austin quirky. Their eclectic library of dishes provide an alternative to disposable, single-use dishes and cutlery that are all too familiar at events.
The Austin Dish Lending Library isn’t just for Austin! On November 8, 2019 the Austin Dish Lending Library will hit the road and provide dishware for the Fall Fashion Show at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. The Students for Sustainability Club is putting on the the Fall Fashion Show, which features recycled clothing.
